BIG TIME COVERAGE!!
Friday, 08 August 2008

With all of the buzz going on about BMX these days I thought it would be cool to provide some links to some of the coolest things I have seen so far. Donny Robinson has been a media favorite! He has been popping up all over the place. Jonathan Suarez (former MCS Pro) has been doing his part in South America as well. We are super excited to see Mosquito doing well also, even though he still owes me $40.00 US! LOL!

Check out what has been posted on the internet lately...

GOOD THINGS HAPPENING UP NORTH!
Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Image We are pleased to announce that we have a new guy up in Canada! His name is Dean Toews. Dean is 36 years old, and has been racing for almost 29 years. He has raced for such companies as Block Racing in the 90’s, as well as, Trek Bicycles for the three years they had bmx in their line-up. He was then approached by Cap’s (big time shop in Canada) to race for Proworks. Which then turned into a huge team that he ended up managing for 4 years. At that time he was racing pro and working two jobs but now he races in the Challenge classes.  Having raced pro for 8 years and one of those years on the restructuring of BMX in Canada was placed in the AA Pro category for a period of time. Currently, Dean is a 30 and over expert and making his mains placing top three pretty consistently.

Image Just recently there was a UCI points race for the CCA (Canadian Cycling Assoc.) and also a Title race.  It would be similar to a State Championship for ABA or district championship.  The race took place in Surrey, British Columbia and was on July 12th. Dean ended up taking home the second for the day, so he will be running the #2 plate for this next year!

Welcome to the program Dean!

TEAM EUROPE UPDATE!
Wednesday, 02 July 2008

UCI BMX World Championships, Taiyuan – China
This time Team MCS Europe was represented only by Montgomery “8thball” Bregita. "8th-ball" went to China with the dream to make it the finals! With all the effort and determination he made it and his new nickname has turned into "W8th-ball!"

UEC BMX Summerrace, Valkenswaard - The Netherlands
Last weekend was the UEC BMX Summerrace in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands. It was a perfect race weekend due to the help of an outstanding organization combined with one of the favorite race tracks. MCS Europe Team was represented by its riders Montgomery “8th-ball” Bregita and Zahur “Z-man” Fraai looking for a spot on the podium!

"8th-ball" had a great weekend, putting on a show battling with current Dutch cruiser Champion. 8-ball finished both days in 2nd place in the 30-39 cruiser class. "Z-Man" hasn’t done much practicing lately due to a very busy schedule but is still one of the biggest threats on the gate! A 2nd place for him in the 25+ class on Sunday.

UPDATE FROM DOWN UNDER!
Monday, 16 June 2008

Image Our man down under John McLaughlin sent us this update on the team in Australia. Having just completed their season, here's a recap on how they finished up...

Jacob Griffiths 1st  9 boys 20’’ he proved yet again that he is the champ by winning his age title yet again. Paull Mclaughlin 1st  30-34 men 20’’it has been long time coming he has had to settle for second a few times. But proved this year, that he was worthy of the number 1 plate. Tim Ward 3rd 40-44 men 24’’, great ride in only a hand full of rides back from retirement. He had won every heat and semi with ease, unfortunately got shut out in final and had to settle for third. Paull Mclaughlin 5th 30-34 men 24’’rode well in heats, got shut out in final and had to settle for the number five. Other results were, Ryan Henderson very very unlucky in both 20’’ and 24’’ going out in semi’s in both 15 boys and 15-16 boys 24’’ after proving almost unstoppable in heats. Ashlea Cragg very unlucky as well not qualifiying out of heats due to very hard fall in first heat.  Bit saw and sorry for remaining two heats of the 15 girls Shane Austin had a good ride in heats but was unfortunately knocked out in his 1/4 final of the 12 boys.

DUTCH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Thursday, 12 June 2008

Last weekend was the Dutch National Championships of BMX in Heiloo, Netherlands. It was a sunny day, great race track and wonderful organization. The competition was thrilling for all competitors and spectators. MCS Europe Team was represented by its riders Montgomery “8-Ball” Bregita and Zahur “Z-man” Fraai on the hunt for the National title!

8-Ball had a great start, had a little elbow to elbow competition ont the first straight with former cruiser World Champion ending up in a crash for the opponent. 8-ball managed to stay on his bike and had to fight back for a podium spot and almost made it. A 4th place for him in the 30-39 cruiser class.

Z-Man was the man to beat! Racing all day on a very strong base placing himself into the main event. After taking the lead in the finals he went down hard on the 1st straight and had to say adieu to the National title. A 7th place for him and round of applause from the audience.
