A few weeks ago we had our first Florida State Series Qualifier for the 2010 Season. It always seems weird to me that as the northern states are shutting it down for the winter, or moving their operations to an indoor facility, we are starting up another State Season. This years series kick-off went down at High Springs BMX. Located just north of Gainesville in... well... High Springs, LOL! Duh! The track is tucked away in the back of this park, with lots of parking and a tight, but good layout the racing was going to be good for sure. As far as I can remember the weather was pretty good as well, that’s always a plus!

The team did good individually... Raul Gomez got an uncharacteristical second on Saturday, but got back on track on Sunday with two firsts. Mike Powers is showing that he is gonna be giving it to Gomer all season long. That is going to be one of the good races to watch come Championship time, you can count on it! Petey Peters had his hands pretty full in 26-34 Expert. He nailed down the wins both days, but you can bet Dusty Means and Chris Barlowe will be keeping him honest this season. Cory Watts took home two wins in 19-25 Expert. He was out front and looking pretty good all weekend. Bryan Kipp took a tough spill in practice on Friday night, so he had to sit this one out and watch. Pretty frustrating to say the least. Kipper has been training his butt off and I’m sure watching wasn’t what he planned on doing all weekend long. Tucker Rice did his thing in 12 Expert. He went 4 for 4 on the weekend, winning class and cruiser both days. Jeff DeVido made both mains in 40-44 Cruiser, scoring a 6th and a 5th. 13 Expert, Dean DeVido looked good in his motos going 2-2-2 on Saturday and 3-3-3 on Sunday, but couldn’t find his way into the mains. Sunday he took a tough crash in his semi, leaving him a bit banged up for the long ride home. Perry DeVido made both of his mains in 11 Novice, scoring a 3rd on Saturday and a 6th on Sunday.

As far as team sheet goes... We got a 4th on Saturday and a 3rd on Sunday. I wasn’t thinking and didn’t register our guys for the stacked “Turkey Opens” on Sunday which received HUGE bonus points for the teams that did. But hey, the season is long, we have made some adjustments to the roster and we will be back in the fight in Jacksonville in January. Jacksonville in January... it may get a little cold, bring the heat. I know we will!
